Day 3 (9th June)

Günaydın İyi!

Some tired faces this morning with activities finishing at 10pm last night.  The students started today at 9am right after breakfast and go straight through until 10pm again.  If you haven't heard from your children, don't worry!  The camp counsellors keep them busy from dawn til dusk and they're just having too much fun.

During the day Team Mars will be given the secrets to what's really going on inside Area-51 and experiencing zero G.  Team Jupiter will be in RoboLab working on their multifunctional Mars Rovers and in the ISS* suite. Team Saturn are also in RoboLab after their rocket construction.  All the teams will have mission briefings now that they know their crew positions.

This evening we will be all together (students and staff) for Space History and after tea we all have Astronomy in the observatory.

Yesterday the DC staff along with Uluc (SCT counsellor) visited Izmir city to check the situation with regard to the students' city tour later in the week.  The Aegean sea-front esplanade is lovely and the old town and market where Mr Hann and Miss Li Fook sampled the turkish coffee has a great bustling atmosphere. The only things of note to report were the nicely cooked steaks and the lovely ice cream and cakes.   But don't worry parents (and Mr Hill), DC teachers are committed to our students well being and we will force ourselves to risk assess all those cafes to the best of our ability!

More pictures to follow later this evening.

Hoşçakal!

*We're not going to tell you any of the techy acronyms - you're going to have to look them up!
